Back to the question of how? How can we become who we are supposed to be?
It begins as we look into His Word (the Bible) to find out who we are in Him and the big, grand purpose behind all of creation.
And we understand more as we come to know Our Creator, Our Father—as we develop our relationship with Him by spending time with Him.
It’s then that our part in the whole plan begins to take shape.
Let me ask you something. Read the next line.
Your passion. Your purpose. Your people. Your place.
Have you found these?
Until you do, you will not have fullness of peace or joy or fulfillment.
I know. Because I lived far too many years without finding, and living out, and in, those four things.
Oh, I read about them and thought about them but I seemed to not be able to muster up the courage and resolve to consistently and actively pursue them.
It was easier to live the lives and purposes of those around me…
That is, until my purpose-crisis and circumstances-crisis collided and I fell apart.
So, from my own personal experience, and from reading the stories of other women like me, I know that if you start seeking “Holy Spirit change” with all your heart— you will bloom.
Prolifically.
Beautifully.
Because He made you to do just that.
Believe it.
All it takes is just a spark of hope to get you moving towards becoming all He created you to be.
Hope moves us forward.
And as you move forward…
You will find your people, place, passion, and purpose.
And you will find your joy.
Now God has us where He wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all His idea, and all His work. All we do is trust Him enough to let Him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work He does, the good work He has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing. Ephesians 2: 7-10 The Message
Oh, please, be sure to read that scripture!
I know how we are prone to read over scriptures really fast in this kind of context.
But it is worth sloooooowly reading.
Remember, we’re here to start making changes.
That means slowing down and drinking in and absorbing the words….and letting God, through His Spirit, speak to us personally through His Words.
We are not going to be in a big hurry anymore.
That’s the way of our culture, the way of the world.
In fact, I’m going to “pause” right now to possibly teach you a word, or simply remind you of a word. Since I will be using this word every so often in my writings, usually after a juicy selection of scripture, I want to talk about what it means.
The word is Selah, found in the Bible.
I’ve read that there is more than one definition of the word but I believe they are all similar. The one I always remember is that it means “pause, and consider that” as in to consider what was just said. From a source found on Wikipedia, Tony Warren, who wrote “What Does Selah Mean” it says that his interpretation claims that selah comes from the primary Hebrew root word salah (סָלָה) which means “to hang,” and by implication to measure (weigh).
So…Selah.
Pause and hang and measure and consider and take another bite and drink from Ephesians 2:7-10 (above)
Because in it we find out how amazing our God is, and how amazing He created us to be.
We see that He is kind and good and that He showers grace.
We also see that it’s all a gift—so we don’t have to do “works” to receive His freely given gifts.
No performance anxiety! WooHoo! Now THAT’S freeing for our journey. We dropped some heavy baggage right there.
And we see that He has created us to partner with Him to do good works—works that we will want to do.
Oh, what a partner to have! To that I say, “Can’t lose!”
We also see that He has already prepared the work we are to do. { notice–past tense }
When we spend time with Him, we will discover and know what that work is.
Yes!
{ Selah }
