You can try…but it won’t work.
No matter where you are or who you’re with—your God-given talent will express itself.
The buds and blooms (gifts and talents) will come out through every crack and opening in your life.
The buds will not be denied their time and chance to bloom!
I remember reading something that the accomplished and gifted writer Madeleine L’Engle wrote when she found herself utterly frustrated over a writing project. She abruptly and emotionally decided that she was giving up writing–that she would never write again!
And almost as soon as she made this declaration, she wanted to run to her typewriter to write and share with others about why she would never write again.
Oh my goodness. I find this so entirely amusing.
We all know this to be true of ourselves and those we observe who are trying to bury their talents—hide their buds—push them back into the ground.
It can’t be done because it’s how we express ourselves.
IT’S WHO WE ARE!!
You’ll see the buds peeking out every which way you turn.
Buds of ideas. Buds of words. Buds of thoughtful acts of kindness. Buds of building projects. Buds of new ideas to cure cancer. Buds of better parenting. Buds of sermons. Buds of a new song.
It IS possible to stifle their growth and smother their being able to thrive and blossom in a healthy and prolific way.
I’ve done that.
Tried to push them in the ground.
Tried to bury them.
Forsake them.
Like Madeleine.
I go about my business. I write a quick e-mail. I get a response: “Did anyone ever tell you’re a good writer? A wordsmith? You should write a book or something.”
EEEEEK! Darn bud! How did it show itself?
Because it’s who I am. It’s the talent God gave me to husband.
So you (and I) may as well start watering and fertilizing and laughing and dancing with these happy, LIVING, buds and blooms. Because they aren’t going anywhere.
They won’t stay hidden, my friend.
And you’ll find that even on the worst of days, through the most difficult of times, you can turn to them to get you through the tough times in life.
It’s because they are from God. He gave this talent to you, these blooms, to bring you close to Him, to glorify Him, and to share with others.
You will see Him and come to know Him better through these blooms. This is because He put them in you. They are part of Him.
Supernatural seed– blossoming into gardens of beauty reflecting His glory.
Amen and amen.
Bloom.
No matter where. In your perfect place…or not.
Bloom.
No matter when.
On beautiful sunny days…
… or through violent storms.
Just bloom.
Because it connects you with God.
Because it helps and blesses others and they will experience Him through your gift.
Because it will get you through to the finish line.
In joy.
In peace.
COVERED with petals of glory!!
(This was written and posted with Hurricane Irma coming straight for us. Category 5, 185 mph sustained winds. I was blooming with the storm on the way… Helped keep me calmer. Just sayin’.)
